Slender birch trunks rise in vertical chorus through a haze of fresh spring foliage in this immersive fine art photograph from Sussex woodland. The frame fills with trees, their dark stems creating a rhythmic pattern against the luminous green of newly emerged leaves. It is an image of renewal and density, of the particular atmosphere that pervades deciduous woodland in the first flush of the growing season.

This Hastings birch wood photograph captures the essence of young English forest in spring. The birch trees stand close together, their characteristically pale bark marked with darker bands and patches of moss. Some lean toward neighbours, others cross at angles, creating a complex visual field that rewards extended viewing. Between and beyond them, the acid-green of new leaf growth glows with backlit intensity.

The colour palette celebrates green in its freshest incarnation. This is not the deep bottle-green of high summer but the vivid lime and chartreuse of leaves only days old, still translucent enough to glow when light passes through them. The dark verticals of the trunks provide essential contrast, preventing the image from dissolving into undifferentiated brightness.

There is something both intimate and expansive about this view. The density of stems creates enclosure, yet glimpses of pale sky between the canopy suggest space beyond. The overall effect is of standing within the wood rather than observing it from outside, surrounded by the quiet life of trees in their moment of maximum vitality.

Printed in-house on museum-quality Hahnemühle Photo Rag 308gsm archival paper using UltraChrome pigment inks, this spring woodland print is guaranteed to retain its fresh colours for generations. Each limited edition print is hand-signed and includes a certificate of authenticity.

The verdant palette and natural subject make this English birch photograph ideal for bringing the rejuvenating energy of spring into any interior.

Hahnemühle Photo Rag 308gsm

Our prints are made on Hahnemühle Photo Rag, a white 100% cotton fine art paper with a subtle, velvety texture. Developed by one of the world’s oldest paper mills (established 1584), Photo Rag has become the benchmark for fine art photography printing.

The natural cotton fibres create a surface with remarkable depth and tonal range — shadows hold rich detail while highlights remain clean and luminous. The gentle texture adds a tactile quality that elevates the image beyond a standard photograph, giving each print the presence of a true artwork.

Photo Rag is acid-free, lignin-free, and produced without optical brightening agents, meaning it won’t yellow or degrade over time. When combined with pigment inks, prints are rated to last over 100 years under proper display conditions.

UltraChrome Pigment Inks

We use professional-grade pigment inks rather than dye-based alternatives. Pigment inks are embedded into the paper fibres rather than sitting on the surface, resulting in exceptional fade resistance, a wider colour gamut, and true archival permanence.

Printed with Care

Each print is produced to order in our studio, hand-checked for quality, and allowed to rest before being carefully packaged. We never outsource to third-party print labs.

Size Dimensions Best Suited For
A4 210 × 297 mm Desks, shelves, and smaller spaces. Ideal for gallery walls with multiple pieces or as a considered gift. Works well in standard frames widely available on the high street.
A3 297 × 420 mm A versatile mid-size print. Suits bedrooms, hallways, and home offices. Large enough to appreciate fine detail while remaining easy to frame and hang.
A2 420 × 594 mm A confident statement piece. Perfect above a console table, in a dining room, or as a focal point in a living space. Requires wall space but rewards with presence and impact.
A1 594 × 841 mm A commanding artwork for larger rooms. Ideal above a sofa, bed, or fireplace. At this scale, the image becomes immersive — fine textures and subtle tones reveal themselves fully.

A note on borders: All prints include a 40mm white border, which provides breathing room for the image and allows for flexible framing options — whether floated, window-mounted, or framed to the edge.

What’s the difference?

An open edition print has no cap on the number produced. It can be reprinted as demand requires, making it an accessible entry point into collecting fine art photography.

A limited edition print is restricted to a fixed number of copies. Once the edition sells out, no further prints of that image at that size will ever be made. This scarcity makes limited editions more collectible and valuable over time.

Size Edition Type What's Included
A4 & A3 Open Edition Hand-signed by the artist
A2 & A1 Limited Edition of 100 Hand-signed, numbered, and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity

Why 100?

We’ve chosen an edition size that balances accessibility with genuine scarcity. An edition of 100 allows collectors at different stages to own the work, while still ensuring each print holds long-term value. Once an edition sells out, that’s it — the image is retired at that size permanently.

Certificate of Authenticity

Every limited edition print (A2 and A1) is accompanied by a signed certificate confirming the title, edition number, print date, and materials used. This documentation supports provenance and protects your investment.
