Time writes in moss and mineral across the curved stone of a Victorian railway arch in this richly textured fine art photograph. Water has traced its slow path down the brickwork for over a century, leaving a central channel of verdant growth that shifts from bright yellow-green at the base to subtle olive and grey where the moisture thins. The result is an image that transforms industrial infrastructure into accidental art.

This East London railway arch photograph celebrates the beauty of urban decay and natural reclamation. The curved masonry, built to carry trains across the capital in an age of steam and empire, has become a canvas for biological processes far slower than the commerce it was designed to serve. Algae, moss and lichen have colonised the damp central zone while the drier flanks retain their original grey stonework, creating a natural composition of striking symmetry.

The textural complexity rewards close inspection. Individual bricks emerge and recede, their surfaces variously smooth, pitted, crumbling and encrusted. The mortar between them has weathered differently depending on exposure, creating a network of pale lines that map the wall’s construction. Dark water stains streak downward through the green growth, recording the paths of countless rainstorms.

There is something almost devotional about this image. The arched form and central vertical emphasis recall ecclesiastical architecture, while the green upon grey evokes weathered cemetery monuments. Yet this is firmly industrial heritage, the muscular infrastructure that built modern London now softened by the patient work of water and spore.

Printed in-house on museum-quality Hahnemühle Photo Rag 308gsm archival paper using UltraChrome pigment inks, this urban texture print is guaranteed to retain its subtle colour variations for generations. Each limited edition print is hand-signed and includes a certificate of authenticity.

The organic palette and architectural subject make this railway arch photograph ideal for interiors that appreciate the meeting of nature and industry.

Hahnemühle Photo Rag 308gsm

Our prints are made on Hahnemühle Photo Rag, a white 100% cotton fine art paper with a subtle, velvety texture. Developed by one of the world’s oldest paper mills (established 1584), Photo Rag has become the benchmark for fine art photography printing.

The natural cotton fibres create a surface with remarkable depth and tonal range — shadows hold rich detail while highlights remain clean and luminous. The gentle texture adds a tactile quality that elevates the image beyond a standard photograph, giving each print the presence of a true artwork.

Photo Rag is acid-free, lignin-free, and produced without optical brightening agents, meaning it won’t yellow or degrade over time. When combined with pigment inks, prints are rated to last over 100 years under proper display conditions.

UltraChrome Pigment Inks

We use professional-grade pigment inks rather than dye-based alternatives. Pigment inks are embedded into the paper fibres rather than sitting on the surface, resulting in exceptional fade resistance, a wider colour gamut, and true archival permanence.

Printed with Care

Each print is produced to order in our studio, hand-checked for quality, and allowed to rest before being carefully packaged. We never outsource to third-party print labs.

Size Dimensions Best Suited For
A4 210 × 297 mm Desks, shelves, and smaller spaces. Ideal for gallery walls with multiple pieces or as a considered gift. Works well in standard frames widely available on the high street.
A3 297 × 420 mm A versatile mid-size print. Suits bedrooms, hallways, and home offices. Large enough to appreciate fine detail while remaining easy to frame and hang.
A2 420 × 594 mm A confident statement piece. Perfect above a console table, in a dining room, or as a focal point in a living space. Requires wall space but rewards with presence and impact.
A1 594 × 841 mm A commanding artwork for larger rooms. Ideal above a sofa, bed, or fireplace. At this scale, the image becomes immersive — fine textures and subtle tones reveal themselves fully.

A note on borders: All prints include a 40mm white border, which provides breathing room for the image and allows for flexible framing options — whether floated, window-mounted, or framed to the edge.

What’s the difference?

An open edition print has no cap on the number produced. It can be reprinted as demand requires, making it an accessible entry point into collecting fine art photography.

A limited edition print is restricted to a fixed number of copies. Once the edition sells out, no further prints of that image at that size will ever be made. This scarcity makes limited editions more collectible and valuable over time.

Size Edition Type What's Included
A4 & A3 Open Edition Hand-signed by the artist
A2 & A1 Limited Edition of 100 Hand-signed, numbered, and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity

Why 100?

We’ve chosen an edition size that balances accessibility with genuine scarcity. An edition of 100 allows collectors at different stages to own the work, while still ensuring each print holds long-term value. Once an edition sells out, that’s it — the image is retired at that size permanently.

Certificate of Authenticity

Every limited edition print (A2 and A1) is accompanied by a signed certificate confirming the title, edition number, print date, and materials used. This documentation supports provenance and protects your investment.
